I just sent an enquiry to Big Blue Bus about their GTFS data (which seems to be only available to Google at the moment).
If you want to weigh in, please use their contact form to ask them to publish their GTFS data: http://www.bigbluebus.com/contactus/index.asp
If there are other agencies I should include, please mention them in the comments.
Mapnificent Milwaukee has been started.
However there are some difficulties:
- the data has some issues with trips driving too fast (taking 0 seconds between stops), I have to investigate this which will take some more time.
I have to recalibrate the colors a bit so the spectrum fits the actual maximum range. However, I don’t think a color legend is absolutely necessary, since the whole thing is interactive and you can use the slider to experience the time.
If I find a good place to put the color legend, I will. Suggestions?
I've been getting into GIS and cartography lately. Theres plenty of folks into it that don't know there's good projects like this floating around that could get some good ideas going. I like how you're open to suggestions and implement them quickly and have made the users your workforce in getting the data to you that you both would love to have. It's the right idea. I know way too many people who rely on public transit that you'd likely find their skills handy. Task it out to us!3 votes
sadly I hardly find time to work on Mapnificent these days. Sorry for the late reply.
There are ways you people can help!
Comment on ideas here and include necessary information like links to public transport websites and links to their datasets. If no dataset is present, mention that in the comments and for extra karma write to the public transport agency and ask them to publish the data.
It’s really time consuming to work through the ideas here and to add new cities and that is time I cannot spend working on new features.
If you have other ideas how you can help out, please share.
The current Mapnificent Asheville map does not work correctly. I suspect it’s because the data is either wrong, malformed or processed badly on my site.
I already have the data and it’s running fine, but I need some input on how PVTA relates to other transit agencies in the region.
Would it make sense to join this with another transit dataset of Massachusetts (see http://www.gtfs-data-exchange.com/agencies/bylocation )?
Are there already connections to Boston? The Mapnificent map cannot contain too many connected transit datasets (it gets too big and too slow), but some reasonable connectedness would make sense.
- Don't see your idea?
