Tricky! Mapnificent needs some CPU power and iPad is probably not able to handle it. I will work with the iPad Simulator in the coming week, but can’t guarantee that it will work on an actual one (don’t own one myself). I will report progress here.
Mapnificent currently works best in Chrome, Opera, Safari and Firefox (in roughly that order).

I had a brief discussion on Twitter about STIB’s data for Brussels. It is available for free, but unfortunately under conditions that are not acceptable to me: http://www.stib.be/data-sharing.html?l=en
The general conditions have some ridiculous paragraphs as I mentioned on Twitter before (https://twitter.com/#!/mapnificent/status/7208275082739712)
The conditions I have a problem with are:
          - § 4.3 no modifications to the data set. Mapnificent transforms the data to be able to work the way it does, there is no other way. This paragraph may or may not apply, but I’m rather on the safe side and wait for the agency to give permission (like I did for San Diego and Los Angeles).
          – § 4.5: Sharing usage statistics twice a year. I don’t mind sharing statistics on a voluntary basis, but I don’t want to commit myself to a report twice a year. If I forget, I violate the conditions and might…

Challenges here: getting the data, processing it and building the right interface for it. For the first two I can’t provide a sophisticated solution. I also don’t want Mapnificent to suffer from feature creep.
I want to keep Mapnificent Public Transport oriented, therefore I will probably only build a feature that let’s you check distance by car from your starting point to one other specific point.

          • Add Mississauga Transit, Brampton Transit, Zune, Guelph Transit, GRT and GO Transit

This will cover pretty much all of the West Greater Toronto Area, particularly the cities of Malton, Brampton, Mississauga, Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge and St. Jacobs

Please link to data for each of these agencies. Also I’m not sure if I want to integrate all these into a single Mapnifcent map even when they lie in the same general area. The map may get too big and too slow if it has too many transit agencies.

            • Make the slider change the number of walking/riding minutes

There should either be another slider to change the number of minutes I'm willing to walk from a station or the existing slider should increase that number to whatever the existing slider says. If I can get somewhere in half an hour walking to it but there's never a bus that goes anywhere near it, I can still get there in half an hour.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean. Have you noticed the Settings “Max. time to walk/ride from/to stations”. It’s not a slider (I guess it should be), but doesn’t it do approximately what you want?

I tried the unofficial Chennai GTFS data that is on gtfs-data-exchange.com, but even though the data is syntactically correct, it doesn’t result in a good Mapnificent map. Maybe there is not enough data (only very few stops) or there is another problem, hard to tell.
The current result can be seen at http://www.mapnificent.net/chennai/
It is hidden from the global map, because of its broken state.

                  • Add travel costs

Use colours or bands within the resulting travel area to indicate ticketing costs, based on data obtained from transport authorities' travel planning websites. For any network based on travel stages or zones this should be fairly easy, if the stage information is included in the GTFS data...

Public transport fare rules are sadly overly complicated and opaque in most cases. Also only about half of all agencies on Mapnificent even have fare rules.
Displaying fare zones might be possible, although I’m not convinced if this still fits the core capability of Mapnificent. I’ll look into the data and possibilities.

                    • add university transits for students such as Baylor University, University of Texas, Texas A&M, etc.

I rarely use the transit, but when I do. I never know which bus to use since we have a rotation system... it would be helpful to know what bus to get on.

                      • San Francisco: several Caltrain stations aren't represented, though most are.

Most Caltrain stations are represented, but these are not:
                        22nd St
                        Bayshore

(I live near the 22nd street station, so I'm biased)

Please have a look at this URL: http://www.mapnificent.net/sanfrancisco/#/?lat=37.72816238878862&lng=-122.38735181032031&zoom=13&lat0=37.709491536270875&lng0=-122.40125638185351&t0=10

I have no idea but SF transit, but it looks to me like the stations are covered (even though there are some other oddities I need to investigate). Could you please arrange a Mapnificent map in a way that represents your problem and post the URL in the comments?

Please name a city that publishes public transport data together with a link to the data and their terms of use. I don’t have time to go hunting for data, but if there is easy access to data, I’ll add the city as soon as I can.

Mapnificent on mobile phones is currently no possible, due to lack of computing power on mobile phones.
Also, I don’t know any African cities that publish the necessary public transport data (GTFS format).
